    The 22nd Laugavegur Ultra Marathon will take place on Saturday, July 14th, 2018. Registration for the race will be open from January 12th to June 30th but can be closed sooner if the race is fully booked. Information about entry fee, terms etc will be available at the beginning of January. Is this race for you?

  • The Laugavegur trail

    The Laugavegur trail is located in the southern highlands of Iceland and connects the nature reserves Landmannalaugar and Thorsmork. For many runners the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon is the most enjoyable race in Iceland. The course is 55 km and takes runners through areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Laugavegur Ultra Marathon 2017

The 21st Laugavegur Ultra Marathon will take place on Saturday July 15th 2017. Registration will start on January 11th 2017 and will be open until June 30th unless the race will be fully booked before that date. In 2016 the race was fully booked in March. Information about entry fee and other practical things are in the process of being updated.

The Laugavegur course takes runners through areas of outstanding natural beauty at the same time as being a challenging course. The course is multi-terrain; sand, gravel, grass, snow, ice, rivers and streams. Hikers normally cover this distance in four days.

With good training and the right preperation the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon can be one of the runners most enjoyable races. Please note that there are time limits so it is very important to be well prepered.

Sebastien Camus and Joe Meek are the 2016 winners

Sébastien Camus and Jo Meek are the 2016 Laugavegur Ultra Marathon winners. Jo Meek from UK finished on a new female course record, 5:00:46. Sébastien Camus from France finished at 4:24:26, 6th best male finish time since 1997.
