Prizes 2018

All the runners that finish the race will receive a medal. The top three runners in 10 km, 21,1 km and 42,2 km will also receive special awards. These prizes will be handed out at the stage at the finishing area in Laekjargata after the race.

Prize money

The top three male and female runners in the 10 km, 21,1 km and 42,2 km will receive a money prize. A special money Prize will also be awarded to the first three Icelandic runners, male and female if they are not in the top three. The prize money will be paid in Icelandic krona's (ISK).

Course record

If the course record in the marathon or half marathon is broken a course record bonus will be paid. The bonus is 100.000 ISK for a marathon course record and 50.000 ISK for a half marathon course record. The record holders in the marathon are Ceslovas Kundrotas (LTU) 2:17:06 (male) and Angharad Mair (GBR) 2:38:47 (female). Benjamin Serem (KEN) is the record holder in half marathon male 1:04:09 and Martha Ernstdóttir (ISL) has the record in half marathon female 1:11:40.

WOW air flight

The first runners to finish the marathon and the half marathon will receive a gift certificate valid for flight with WOW air. The certificates amounts are shown in the table below.

Gift cards and goods

The first three male and female runners in the 10 km race, half marathon and marathon will receive a trophy and the following prizes:

  • Gift certificate valid for races organized by Reykjavik Sports Union
  • Reebook fitness member card
  • Suzuki towel

Team competition

The first team in the team competition of the 10 km run, half marathon and marathon will get prizes. The prizes for the team competition will be handed out at the Reykjavik Marathon office in Laugardalur from Tuesday, August 22nd. Further information about the team competition can be found here.

Age groups

The first runner in each age group to finish a timed distance will get a prize. The prizes for the age groups competition will be handed out at Reykjavik Marathon office on Engjavegur 6 in Laugardalur from Tuesday, August 22nd. The Reykjavik Sports Union was established in 1944 and is the association of sports clubs in Reykjavik.
