Program on race day 2017

The run will take place on Friday, 23rd of June, in the evening and participants will be running into the midnight sun. After the race everyone can go to the Laugardsalslaug geothermal swimming pool nearby. It will be open until 1am on Saturday, 24th of June.

The program on race day June 23rd 2017 is as follows:

21:00   Half marathon

21:00   10 km

21:20   5 km

The prize ceremony will be at the finishing area as soon as results are ready.

How to get there?

The Laugardalur valley where the race starts and ends is not very far from the city centre and there are several options to get there.

By car

If you have a car please note that the parking lot by the ice skating rink in Laugardalur will be closed from 18:00. Also note that the road Engjavegur will be closed some parts of the evening. It is recommended that runners park by Laugardalsvöllur National Football Stadium. 


The following busses stop at Suðurlandsbraut, the street behind Laugardalshöll Sports Hall (number pickup and start area):

Number 2 – Hlemmur – Hamraborg- Salahverfi
Number 5- Nauthólsvík-Hlemmur-Ártún-Mosfellsbær
Number 15- Vesturbær – Hlemmur-Ártún- Mosfellsbær
Number 17-Seltjarnarnes-Vesturbær-Hlemmur-Bústaðahverfi-Mjódd

Bus number 14 stops by Laugardalslaug Swimming pool
Bus number 12 stops at Laugarnesvegur

Reykjavik Marathon is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1984. Reykjavik Marathon organizes three events every year: Íslandsbanki Reykjavík Marathon in August, Laugavegur Ultra Marathon in July and Suzuki Midnight Sun Run in June.
