Each participant in all three distances in the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run gets a chip that is linked to his/her name and number. This data chip has to be securely fastened to the runners shoe to give correct results.

Timing is done with the Mylaps system. Timing mats are crossed in the start and at the end of the race so runners will get both their personal time (chip time) and gun time. Gun time is used to rank runners and prizes in both overall and age groups categories are given according to gun time.

This enviromentally friendly chip is rented to the competitor during the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run and has to be returned after the race to the race staff. If the chip is not returned, the participant can be charged 1.500 ISK. It is not possible to use it in other races unless the chip is returned and programmed again for the next race.

The bib number and chip is registered and valid to registered participant only. Reykjavík Marathon/Midnight Sun Run reserves the right to disqualify runners using bib number and chip from others.

The timing chip fastened correctly.

The staff collecting chips after the race will be holding signs like the ones on the photo above.
