  • Geothermal pool

    Close by the start and finish of the race is one of the city’s wonderful geothermal outdoor swimming pools, Laugardalslaug. All participants are invited to the swimming pool, hot tubs and steam baths after the race. It's a perfect way to relax after a successful race in the midnight sun.   • Three distances

    In the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run you can choose between three distances; half marathon, 10 km race and 5 km race. The rout has some great viewings like the salmon river Ellidaa, lake Raudavatn, and a beautiful golf course. The race starts in Laugardalur valley which is in full bloom this time of year.

It is getting closer to the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run in Iceland and we hope that everybody's preparation for the race is going well. We´ve put together a list of things and links that participants might be wondering about when doing their final preparations.

The half marathon and the 10 km starts at 21:00 and 5 km at 21:20. See further information about the race day program here.  

Number pick up
Runners should pick up their registration material (number, chip, etc.) on the day of the race from 16:00 and no later than 45 minutes before the start of the race. The location is Laugardalsholl (big white sports hall) in front of the start area. The address is Engjavegur 8, 104 Reykjavik. See further information here.  

The Suzuki Midnight Sun Run starts on the road Engjavegur. Half marathon runners should know that the route is demanding, hilly and steep from km 3 to 12, but very beautiful. Here you can find maps of the course on a Google map along with elevation map. 

Service and medical assistance
Timing, refreshments at four refreshments stations, free entry to the geothermal pool and prizes (if ordered online) are among the service that we provide for runners in the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run. Around 200 staff members and volunteers from the sports clubs in Reykjavik are working around the race on race day. The race marshals will show you the way along the course and welcome you to the finish line. Please note that they will not provide any medical assistance. If medical assistance is needed, they can call for a taxi or an ambulance. Please check your insurance before you travel to Iceland in case you need to visit a hospital.

Participants list and running groups
Here you can find a list of all registered participants that wanted their name listed. If you want to change your information on the list you need to log into 'your page' and go to actions – web info. At the same place, you can register your running group if you want it to be listed on the participant's list and results.

Results in a text message
Shortly after runners cross the finish line a text message with their unconfirmed chip-time will be sent to their registered mobile number. Confirmed results will be published on midnightrun.is no later than at 02:00. You can change your mobile number on 'your page' or by sending us an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . If the mobile number you want to register is not Icelandic you will need to add 00 and your country code in front of the number.   

At the ice rink (Skautahöllin í Laugardal) participants can leave their clothes and other personal belongings. A staff member will stay around but all belongings left there is your own responsibility.

How to get there?
The Laugardalur valley where the race starts and ends is not very far from the city center and many hotels are close by.

Please arrive early since there are other events going on in the area at the same time and therefore possible traffic disturbance.

If you arrive by car we recommend parking by Laugardalshöll sports hall when you pick up your race number and by street Suðurlandsbraut just before the race. 

Many public buses stop nearby. Visit straeto.is to find the best option for you. Note that the buses stop driving just before midnight. After that, you can use taxi e.g. Hreyfill taxi tel: +3545885522 or BSR taxi tel: +3545610000. 

Car rental

Geothermal pool
We recommend that you take your swimming clothing with you to Iceland. After the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run all participants are invited free of charge to Laugardalslaug Geothermal Pool which is located around 950 m from the finishing area. It's a perfect way to relax in the midnight sun. Please show your pool ticket (inside registration material) at the entrance. See further information here

Registration is open

Registration for the 2018 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run is now open. The race will take place on Thursday, June 21st. Click here or on the "on-line registration" button on the right to register.

It is recommended that runners register in good time since the entry fee gets higher closer to the race. Click here for information about the entry fee.
