    The 2017 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run will take place on Friday June 23rd. Participants can choose between three distances. On-line will be open here at marathon.is until midnight on Thursday, June 22nd.
  • Geothermal pool

    Close by the start and finish of the race is one of the city’s wonderful geothermal outdoor swimming pools, Laugardalslaug. All participants are invited to the swimming pool, hot tubs and steam baths after the race. It's a perfect way to relax after a successful race in the midnight sun.   • Three distances

    In the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run you can choose between three distances; half marathon, 10 km race and 5 km race. The rout has some great viewings like the salmon river Ellidaa, lake Raudavatn, and a beautiful golf course. The race starts in Laugardalur valley which is in full bloom this time of year.

Course and participation record

The 2017 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run took place tonight and this was the 25th race. Lisa Ring from Sweden sat a new course record in the female half marathon, she ran on 01:23:46. The total number of registrations was 2826, more than ever before. The total number of visitors from abroad was also a record, just over 1300 guests from 52 countries.

On Facebook and Instagram, there are some photos of the happy runners tonight, more will be added after the weekend. In a few days, photos will also be available at the Icelandic runner's website, hlaup.is

Suzuki Midnight Sun Run tonight

The 2017 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run takes place tonight on Friday, June 23rd. On-line registration for the race is now closed but registration will be possible today in Laugardalsholl (big white sports hall), Engjavegur 8, 104 Reykjavik from 16:00 until no later than 45 minutes before the start of each race. Registered runners have to pick up their registration package (number, chip, etc.) at the same place. See location here on a map.

The start times for tonight are following:

21:00 Half marathon starts
21:00 10 km race starts
21:20 5 km race starts

Free admittance to one of the geothermal baths and pools in Reykjavik, Laugardalslaug swimming pool, is included in the entry fee. Runners will find a ticket for the swimming pool in their registration package. The ticket is only valid on June 23rd. Participants can enter the pool until 00:30 and it will be open until 01:00.

At the finish line participants can get Powerade and water to drink. After the race, there will be food for sale at the finishing area. You will be able to choose from The traditional Icelandic hot dog from Bæjarins bestu pylsur and Mexican food from Culiacan Mexican Grill. Putting some cash or a credit card in your pocket before the race starts is therefore recommended.

Reykjavik Marathon is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1984. Reykjavik Marathon organizes three events every year: Íslandsbanki Reykjavík Marathon in August, Laugavegur Ultra Marathon in July and Suzuki Midnight Sun Run in June.
