The 2013 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run was held on June 24th. 1.995 people registered for the race, around 350 from abroad.

Results from the race are available hereIn case of the unfortunate event occurring that you do not find your name in the results of the run please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your name, date of birth, distance, bib number and the time you think you crossed the finish line. If you know the names of anybody who finished the race at a similar time as you then it is also good to include their names. Comments on the results should be sent before July 1st.

Race day program

The program on race day June 24th 2013 is following

16:00  Registration and number pickup - closes 30 min before each race
21:20  Half marathon start on Engjavegur by the the Reykjavik Zoo & Family Park
21:50  5 k start on Engjavegur by the Reykjavik Zoo & Family Park
22:00  10 k start on Engjavegur by Engjavegur 6
00:00  Last change to enter the swimming pool
00:30  The swimming pool closes

The prize ceremony will be at the finishing area as soon as results are ready. All distances finish on a path by the old laundry springs in Laugardalur called "þvottalaugavegur". Click here for a map.

Note that the parking lot by the ice skating rink in Laugardalur will be closed from 18:00. Also note that the road Engjavegur will be closed some parts of the evening. It is recommended that runners park by Laugardalsvöllur National Football Stadium.

Hreyfing gym and spa

Hreyfing gym and spa, located in Álfheimar 74, offers all runners a free 7 day pass. This offer is valid until the end of August. You will have to hand in your bib number at Hreyfing to get the free pass.

World class gym

World class gym offers all participants in the Midnight Sun Run a free week pass to the gym. The only thing a participant has to do to receive this pass is to show his/her bib number in the reception at World class and get a stamp on it. World class is located at 10 places at the great Reykjavik area.

Culiacan restaurant

Culiacan is a mexican grill that offers healthy meals specially designed for runners and other active people. The restaurant offers all runners in the 2013 Midnight Sun Run a 15% discount. Runners will get a discount ticket when they pick up their registration packet.

Welcome to the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run new website!

Registration is now open for the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run 2013 that will be held in the evening of June 24th. Registration will be open until midnight June 23rd but it will also be possible to register on race day from 16:00 o'clock until half an hour before the start of each race. Notice that the entry fee will be higher on race day then if registered online. 

In the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run you can choose from three distances: half marathon, 10 k race and 5 k race. We encourage you to check out here on the website what participation in the Midnight Sun Run has to offer.

Registration starts tomorrow

Registration for all three events organised by the Reykjavik Marathon will start on marathon.is tomorrow, wednesday January 9th. The events are, additional to the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run, the Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon and the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon.

The Suzuki Midnight Sun Run will be held on the 24th of June. Last year the Midnight Sun Run celebrated its twenty-year anniversary. On that occasion a new distance was introduced to the Midnight Sun Run, a half marathon. Additionally new courses were ran in the other two distances, the 10 and 5 k races. Participants were happy with these new courses and never before have there been as many participants, nearly 2.000 people.

These enjoyable courses that all begin and end in the beautiful valley Laugardalur will be the same for this year and we encourage you to run into the summer night under the midnight sun.

The 2013 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run

The Midnight Sun Run will be held for the twenty first time on June 24th 2013. Online registration for the race will be here on marathon.is and will start on next January 9th.

Registration fees for the 2013 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run have not yet been published but will be published in the menu bar on the left as it comes closer to the opening of the online registration as well as information about registration, the program and etc.

The 2012 Suzuki Midnight Sun Run

On June 21st the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run was held. The weather that evening was beautiful as runners ran under the midnight sun. This was the twentieth Midnight Sun Run and the birthday was celebrated with a new name, a new distance and new courses as well as setting a participation record. 

1.990 runners were registered but the old participation record was 1.500. 5 km was the most populous distance with 1.028 participants. 803 were registered for the 10 km run and 159 runners took part in the first half marathon in the Midnight Sun Run. 


The winners in the half marathon were Þorbergur Ingi Jónsson and Melkorka Árný Kvaran. Þorbergur Ingi ran on his best time and Melkorka Árný was rather close to her best. Amongst the men Arnar Pétursson was second on his best time and the British Andrew James Whittingham came third. The second woman was Guðrún Bergsteinsdóttir with a time close to her best and Ragnheiður Sara came third in her first half marathon. 

In the 10 km run Arndís Ýr Hafþórsdóttir and Björn Margeirsson won. Fríða Rún Þórðardóttir was in second place amongst the women and Eva Margrét Einarsdóttir in third place. Tómas Zoëga Geirsson came second amongst the men and Ingvar Hjartarson third. 


Sæmundur Ólafsson and Helga Guðmundsdóttir won the 5 km run. Sæmundur ran on his best time and Ármann Eydal Albertsson who was in second place did that too. Þórólfur Ingi Þórsson came third amongst the men. Amongst the women it was Tinna Sigurðardóttir who was in second place and Barbara Björnsdóttir was in third place.

Reykjavik Marathon is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1984. Reykjavik Marathon organizes three events every year: Íslandsbanki Reykjavík Marathon in August, Laugavegur Ultra Marathon in July and Suzuki Midnight Sun Run in June.
