Pictures from the midnight sun run

Now you can find images from the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run in many different places.

Here on our website you can find images from this year´s event and from events few years back. You can also find us on Facebook and Instagram where there are even more images.

This year we had our friends from hlaup.is taking pictures of participants that you can browse through here. These pictures can be purchased at a reasonable prize through their website.

Our Instagram contest was popular this year. All photographers that tagged their pictures with @midnightrunis and the hashtag #midnightruniceland had the possibility to win a prize. Three participants have now been chosen as winners and we have sent them a gift certificate that they can use when they register for races at marathon.is. These are their pictures:

New records have been made!

The Suzuki Midnight Sun Run took place tonight for the 23rd time. A new record was made in registration, 2.720 signed up, 1.386 for the 5 km run, 809 for the 10 km run and 525 for the half marathon. We have never had as many foreign participants, they where 630 in total from 48 different countries. The majority came from USA, UK, Canada and Germany.

The weather was great and perfect for taking a run. Course records where made in both women‘s half marathon and men‘s 10 km run.

The half marthon men‘s winner was the Icelandic runner Kári Steinn Karlsson with the final time 01:12:48. His finishing time was the third best for the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run but the record holder is Zach Miller from USA (1:10:55). The half marathon women‘s winner was Katie Jones from the UK with the final time being 01:27:58 which is the best time ever in the Suzuki Midnight Sun Run! The old record was made by the Icelander Silja Stefánsdóttir in 2013 (1:33:58).

Arnar Pétursson from Iceland was the first to the finish line in men´s 10 km run this year with the final time 32:26. This is a record for this route that we started using in 2012. The old record holder is Björn Margeirsson from Iceland made in 2012 (33:00). The first female in 10 km finished at 38:22 and that is the third best finishing time on this 10 km course.

Men´s 5 km winner was Sæmundur Ólafsson from Iceland with the final time 15:51. In 2013 he finished just few seconds earlier (15:40). Tinna Lárusdóttir from Iceland was the winner in women‘s 5 km run with the finishing time 19:37. Tinna took part last year as well where she ended in third place but this year she was 1 minute faster.
