All the runners who finish the race will receive a medal. The top three in 10 km, 21,1 km and 42,2 km will receive special awards. Three first relay teams will also get special awards. These prizes will be handed out at the finishing area in Laekjargata.
Prize money The top three male and female runners in the 21,1 km and 42,2 km will receive a special money prize. Prizes will also be awarded to the first three Icelandic runners, male and female. The prize money will be paid in Icelandic krona (ISK).

Flight tickets Winners in 10 km, half marathon and marathon will get a gift certificate for a flight with Iceland Travel. The first team to finish the relay race will get four gift certificate for a flight with Iceland Travel. Gift certificate for a flight with Iceland Travel will also be drawn out among all registered runners in 3 km fun run, 10 km , 21,1 km and 42,2 km. The name off the winner will be announced at the finishing area in Laekjargata.
Course record If the course record in marathon or half marathon will be broken a course record bonus will be paid. The bonus is 100.000 ISK for a marathon course record and 50.000 ISK for a half marathon course record. The record holders in marathon are Ceslovas Kundrotas (LTU) 2:17:06 (male) and Angaharad Mair (GBR) 2:38:47 (female). Benjamin Serem (KEN) is the record holder in half marathon male 1:04:09 and Martha Ernstdóttir (ISL) has the record in half marathon female 1:11:40.
Drawn prizes Drawn prizes for all distances will be handed out at the finishing area and they are sponsored by Asics sportswear. Flight with Iceland Travel will also be drawn out like mentioned under flight tickets above.
Team competition First three teams in the team competition of the 10 km run, half marathon and marathon will get prizes. The prizes for the team competition will be handed out at Reykjavik Marathon office in Laugardalur from Monday August 23rd. Further information about the team competition can be found here.

10 km race 12-15 years 16-18 years 19-39 years 40-49 years 50-59 years 60-69 years 70 years and older
21,1 km (half marathon) 15-19 years 20-39 years 40-49 years 50-59 years 60-69 years 70 years and older
42,2 km (marathon) 18-39 years 40-49 years 50-59 years 60-69 years 70 years and older
